Apa Kabar Konselor Sekolah?

Abstract

Profesi adalah pekerjaan yang membutuhkan pengetahuan atau pendidikan khusus dalam satu ranah tertentu. Sebagai sebuah profesi, konselor mengisyaratkan keharusan kinerja profesional bagi setiap orang yang menyandang profesi itu. Maka dituntut keahlian yang tinggi untuk memenuhi kebutuhan pengguna layanannya berdasarkan norma-norma yang berlaku. Standarisasi prestasi kerja konselor, mensyaratkan pemenuhan jumlah rasio konselor dengan konseli yang dibimbingnya yaitu 1 : 150. Fakta di lapangan  keberadaan guru pembimbing (konselor) di sebagian besar sekolah menengah di Indonesia, belum memenuhi rasio tersebut. Di samping itu, tidak semuanya memiliki latar pendidikan Bimbingan dan Konseling. Olehnya patut dipertanyakan kemampuannya untuk melakukan tugas dan fungsi profesinya memberikan layanan BK sebagai laiknya seorang pemangku pekerjaan profesional. Untuk memperbaikinya, diperlukan komitmen konselor sekolah, agar terus melakukan evaluasi diri (self-evaluation) untuk mengenali sejauh mana efektifitas kinerjanya tercapai. Kepala sekolah sebagai pimpinan konselor di sekolah, untuk memotivasi, memfasilitasi, mensupervisi konselor untuk meningkatkan mutu kinerjanya. Guru mata pelajaran, sebagai mitra kerja konselor hendaknya dapat berfungsi sebagai sumber data yang kooperatif dalam menangani peserta didik. Pihak penentu kebijakan dalam menentukan rekruitmen guru perlu memperhatikan alokasi jumlah yang proporsional bagi penerimaan guru pembimbing dengan latar belakang pendidikan minimal S.1 BK sehingga terus berkelanjutan dapat mendekati pemenuhan rasio yang dibutuhkan. Disertai penyelenggaraan berbagai kegiatan untuk meningkatkan dan menguatkan kemampuan profesional para konselor sekolah, melalui  kerja sama dengan Asosiasi Bimbingan dan Konseling Indonesia (ABKIN) dan Perguruan Tinggi, sebagai pembina organisasi dan pengembang ilmu Bimbingan dan Konseling.                                                   

Profession is a job that requires or special in a certain sphere. As a profession, the counselor hints at the necessity of professional performance for everyone who carries the profession. It requires high expertise to meet the needs of service users based on prevailing norms. Standardization of the counselor’s work performance, requires the fulfillment of the number of counselor ratio with the guided counselee that is 1: 150. Facts on the ground of the presence of counselors in most secondary schools in Indonesia, have not met the ratio. Besides, not all of them have Guidance and Counseling background. Therefore, their ability to do their duties that is to provide counseling services as professionals is questionable. To improve it, the commitment of school counselor is necessary, in order to keep doing self evaluation to recognize the extent to which the effectiveness of its performance is achieved. Principal as head counselor at school, contribute to motivate, facilitate, supervise counselor to improve the quality of their performance. Subject teachers, as counselor partners should be a cooperative data source in dealing with students. The policy makers in determining the recruitment of teachers need to pay attention to the allocation of the proportional amount for the acceptance of teachers with a bachelor of counselling minimum education background so that can fulfill the required ratio continuously. With the implementation of various activities to enhance and strengthen the professional skills of school counselors, in collaboration with the Asosiasi Bimbingan dan Konseling Indonesia (ABKIN) and universities, as an organizer and developer of Guidance and Counseling.
